Bailey’s unique double hollow tread has distinct advantages over the traditional ‘C’ section tread shape due to the fact that 2 hollow sections resist twisting forces. (ie. Torsional rigidity). The entire ladder frame has increased rigidity and stiffness, therefore reducing the need for additional bracing.

The majority of Bailey industrial stepladders are manufactured using a Punchlock and swaging process in their tread to stile connections. This process has been widely used in manufacturing aluminium and fibreglass extension ladders for many years, due to the rigidity of the rung to stile joints.
